Handmade is an annual festival held in Wellington celebrating all things handmade. For two days, over the Queen's Birthday weekend, Handmade hosts a large variety of workshops, master classes, demonstrations and lectures all designed to inspire people in all things handmade. The variety of handmade techniques being taught or displayed is enormous, everything from cookery to bookbinding to embroidery. There are also classes in how to recycle.
I attended a jewellery making class last year. It was for Intermediate metal clay and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However I did notice that this appeared to be the only jewellery making class available.
This year I therefore put in my own class proposal. Having really enjoyed teaching chainmaille in the past I entered a proposal to teach a class to make a Byzantine bracelet, labelling the class idea "Chainmailling Your Jewellery". I was delighted a few days ago to discover that my class idea has been accepted and included in the program. I will be teaching it twice over the weekend, once on the Saturday and once on the Sunday.
