Burgundy is a shade of purplish red associated with the Burgundy wine of the same name, which is in turn named after the Burgundy region of France. The first recorded use of burgundy as a colour name in English was in 1881.
Burgundy is a popular colour both in men's and women's fashion, furniture and linens and is also sometimes used as a wedding motif. It was also the most popular lipstick colour in the 1990s and early 2000s.
My favourite piece using the colour burgundy is my Burgundy Ripple Chainmaille Necklace.

thanks for including me Sharon - a very nice selection of burgundy BrisStyle!
(this colour always reminds me of early 90s fashion!)
