The word "vintage" was originally used purely in relation to the wine industry with the word derived from the Latin "vinum" which means "wine" and "demere" - "to take off". Today the word "vintage" can be used to describe practically anything that is at least 20 years old, as opposed to "antique" which needs to be at least 100 years old.
